Shot to the heart!!!!

On Friday I posted a picture of some supplies and asked who could guess what I was going to make? I didn’t receive any replies!!!!!!! I figured it was Friday, and everyone was ready for the weekend. I reposted the question over on our fanpage on Facebook and finally got some good guesses. Some people were very close and a couple were right on the mark! The supplies consisted of A pixy stix, 2 heart shaped chocolates, and a small craft foam heart…The result…. Cupid’s Arrow!!!

There are several ways you can use this arrow for Valentine’s Day. You can simply make the arrow and incorporate it into:

  • Treat Bags/Boxes
  • Treat stations
  • Attach to a Card
  • Attach personalized tag to the arrow

I decided to make a little Heart shaped card for my arrow…If you choose to do something like this, make sure you take a glimpse at the next few pictures because otherwise you will get stuck making your arrow all over again (Trust me, from personal experience!)

I first drew out a heart on pink cardstock paper about 4″x4″ and cut it out. Then I used an EXACTO Knife to cut two slits through the heart on opposite diagonal sides to fit my arrow through. With a Silver Sharpie marker, I wrote Happy Valentine’s Day. I took the pixy stix and slid it through the heart until it was postioned evenly. Using a Low Temp gluegun, I glued a tiny drop on the bottom of the piy stix and attached the foam heart. Then using 2 small glue dabs on the foil part on the back of the chocolate heart, I attached it to the pixy stix…And Voila! Isn’t it so cute!?

Sorry the Picture is bad!

You could always write on the back of the card or just make this as part of card or even write just the person’s name on the heart. If you want to use this craft at a party…It would be perfect as a placecard! :-)

Heart Envelopes

Target’s $1 Section HAS to be one of my favorite places to go! They always have the cutest seasonal items and containers! Last week, I found a few things that I will be using for my upcoming Mini Valentine’s Day Party.. ;-) One of the seasonal items I found that I just loved was this pack of hearts that you fold into envelopes. Not only can you use them for Valentine’s day, but you can buy different kinds of cardstock and make birthday envelopes custom to a theme, or for a wedding, etc.

The only thing lacking in this kit was a tip on how to make sure you folded the lines correctly and at the right length. I used a cardstock to line up the heart and make sure my folds and creases were nice and straight…Here’s a quick step by step guide I did to help out.. :-)

Can you guess?????

So I promised I would have two posts yesterday with ideas for Valentine’s Day but I couldn’t get around to the Second Post! Sorry! It was for good reason I promise! I was out gathering more supplies and inspiratation for the next 2 weeks before Valentine’s Day. For now, here is a little question to see how good of a guesser you all are… :-)

Can you guess what I’m going to make with these supplies??!!!! If you think you have the answer, comment below..

Social Images….

Over the years I have worked with MANY vendors who have collaborated in many of my party stylings. Sometimes I have ideas that are great but could not be completed without the help of other amazingly creative people! Nicole and Maria at Social Images are 2 of those amazingly creative people! Not only are they creative when it comes to the designs of their stationery but they are SO Sweet to work with! I literally send Nicole a dozen emails a day sometimes with 1 sentence of something that pops into my head and she is always sweet to reply and put up with my insanity! I met Nicole and her mom Maria when I was styling her sweet daughter Sophie’s 2nd Birthday which was themed “Not So Scary Halloween”. They are big Disney fans and Sophie’s birthday is right around Halloween time, so the theme was PERFECT! You can get a glimpse of her party over on her blog.

I have worked with Nicole and Maria for a very long time and I am always so happy with their work! More recently, She designed my son Alexander’s Christmas Calling cards, and now, his Valentine’s Day cards! I can’t wait to mail these..How cute is my little animated cupid?!

Make sure to check out their Etsy Shop as they have tons of great printables and can customize anything to your wishes and theme.. :-)

Be Mine!

I love sweetheart conversation hearts, the look that is! I hate the way they taste!!! But there is something about the pastel colors, and the adorable messages that makes me want to buy them every year for Valentine’s day. Every year I go through the same dilemma of trying to figure out what to do with them. So this year, I finally did something with them that I have always wanted to do..Cookies!

I made these small cookies with a 1.5″ heart cutter, pastel colored fondant, and hot pink royal icing. If you’re not comfortable with Royal Icing, you could always buy edible Markers at Michaels and write the messages directly on the cookie. Check these cookies out! This was the first of ideas with these hearts, then I thought, “Well what else can I do with them??”…Use them as decor!

After having made the cookies, I was trying to think of cute ways to package them besides a cellophane bag with a ribbon (Still just as cute, but I wanted to find something different). I found these adorable mini take out boxes in the $1 Section at Target and loved their fun look so I pick up a few designs. They had squirrels with hearts, robots, little heart patterned boxes and some other cute designs as well.

First I filled the take out box about 3/4 of the way up with candy conversation hearts that I also bought at Target. Then, I slightly tucked in 2 cookies so that they were still fairly exposed. To finish it off, I added a turquoise ribbon and used a tag Andrea from Dolce Drive provided me with from her collection on her etsy shop…and Voila! A perfect sweet dessert for the kiddos on Valentines day!

Valentine’s Day Card Ideas!

Yesterday I posted the GREAT Deal over at Mojo Savings and I hope some of you took advantage of it.. However, I know some Mommas out there are like me and want to make some stuff for our kiddos.. So I went on a search and found some great ideas at another blog, Life in Wonderland!

Although I have always been a fan of the Drugstore printed Valentine’s Day Cards with all the kiddos’ favorite Characters on them, I’m sure all the Mommas out there are trying to think of something creative to give the students in classrooms. Well I found some that are sure to give a big “Whoaaa” from the kiddos and the mommas! Browsing through Life in Wonderland, I came across some CUUUUUTTTTTE Valentine’s Day Card ideas! Check them out! My Personal Favorite: “Dino Mite” Card!

Of course after all this CUTENESS, I went out to get inspiration to Party City and the Dollar Tree and came up with a few ideas.. stay tuned for them! :-)

So nuts about you!!

A few weeks back, my friend Andrea from Dolce Drive posted a GREAT idea for a valentine’s day treat! Check it out! Then my brain started running a million miles a minute about a whole bunch of ideas for Valentine’s Day!! I came up with a little twist on Andrea’s FAB idea and came up with a Donut Cookie in a box! A simple round sugar cookies with the center cut out and iced like a donut. Then I bought classic Sweetheart candies and lined the bottom of a clear box and tied it with a red satin ribbon. The final touch…the cute little tag Andrea designed! This would be a cute gift for a teacher, and if you don’t have time to make cookies shaped into donuts, buy an actual donut! Just as yummy!! Enjoy and stay tuned for more Valentine’s Day ideas these next two weeks!!

We’ve moved!!!

Hello Everyone!

This is the new blog for I Heart Sugar Sugar! I have been wanting to blog alot more lately but haven’t been able to since my Baby Love came along 7 months ago. Now that I am a mommy, I don’t have as much time as before to design, create, and carry out events and candy/dessert stations like before. I have refocused the business to change with our expanding family!

I have many clients and friends that are very hands on Momma’s like me and like to make things for their kids. Whether it’s for school, birthday parties, small holiday gatherings or just because, and this NEW blog will cater to helping all the Momma’s out there!

I will be posting ideas for crafts, room parties, holiday gatherings, birthday parties, featured vendors and anything in between!! Hope you all enjoy the postings and share your pictures if you use any of the ideas posted!!
